A Hearthstone pro gamer was excluded from future Blizzard events because his wife, as a former employee, had spoken badly about the studio. The situation made quite high waves.
Christina Mikkonen said on Twitter that her husband Janne had been excluded from Blizzard's official Hearthstone events because of negative comments about the studio. Janne "Savjz" Mikkonen is Hearthstone-Pro gamer while his wife worked at Blizzard until she was released in February 2019.
A tricky situation
"Blizzard put" Savjz "on the blacklist of events because I spoke out against the company and insulted a community manager," wrote Christina Mikkonen.
Janne Mikkonen said, "This is the reason I was given when I said I wanted to play at this event: my wife was among the 800 laid-off employees and she spoke about the company's unfair practices. I was told I was told be a burden because I am married to my wife. "
According to Christina Mikkonen, the community manager should have informed her husband that his wife was no longer wanted at Blizzard events and therefore could not accompany him should he be invited to a future event again. Blizzard allegedly explained the situation in such a way that "Savjz" did not want to sign an NDA for the events. But the player said that there was never an NDA.
After this story made waves on Twitter and Reddit, Blizzard may have contacted Janne Mikkonen. The Hearthstone player wrote on Twitter: "I received an apology from the community leader. I can now attend future events and my wife can attend future live events as a guest. I had no idea that this was going to go through the roof Thank you to everyone who has somehow come to my aid. I don’t know how to say it better. "
