In June I threw in my column WoW Classic remains extremely exciting even 10 months after its release asked how long it will take for the various Classic servers to meet the requirements for opening Ahn'Qiraj. Phase 5 of WoW Classic It starts on July 29th, but the communities of all servers get countless supplies and parallel one elaborate questline complete before entering the AQ raid instances for the first time.
Sure, the populations of many Classic servers are much larger than they were on the Vanilla Realms at the time, and even then the community of Medivh managed to pull the opening open in less than three weeks (via Wow (buy now for 14.54 €) wiki). However, one has to bear in mind that there are also occasional classic servers with very small populations and various classic realms with a very one-sided fraction ratio. How quickly will the gates open on Lucifron, Heartstriker and Co.? Does Blizzard have to help here at some point, just like back then?
Of the Reddit user FrigginFargo could now give an answer. This currently plays on the US server Incendius and thus on a rather small realm with almost 3,500 active level 60 characters and a fairly one-sided faction balance (85 percent alliance / 15 percent horde, via Ironforge.pro).
According to FrigginFargo, this server has undergone a major change in recent months. Recently, a good part of the active players switched to other servers. Those who stayed behind had to think about how they could manage to open Ahn'Qiraj in a timely manner even without some of the server's largest guilds up to that point. In the server discord, the decision was then made to use the next few weeks to find supplies for Allianz and Horde. The result (spoiler: they did it) or the weekly progress was in this spreadsheet documented.
The example shows very nicely that even supposedly small or unbalanced Classic servers can, thanks to today's knowledge and with the appropriate preparation, find the supplies in good time to ensure the fastest possible opening of the AQ. The actual bottleneck is "only" the quest series just mentioned about the scepter of the sandstorms, which should be mastered for the first time on most Classic servers within two IDs. This in turn means that most raid groups in the week of August 5th for the first time Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj and / or the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj be entered. The only question is whether the gong strike will be artificially held back on some servers in order to enable as many players as possible the coveted black AQ mount.
