The floating city of Orbibos is the focus of the next WoW expansion called Shadowlands. The new capital offers our heroes a safe retreat, and in Oribos we learn more about the shadow lands and their mysterious rulers. The judge resides in the city itself, who decides the fate and the future of the souls of the deceased and distributes them among the many different realms.
Little is known about the judge herself. However, it seems to belong to its own pantheon. It is a group of powerful creatures who played a role in the ordering of the universe. Whether they shaped the universe like the titans remains a mystery for now. There are other beings in the Shadow Lands that resemble the judge and carry a magic stone (a kind of carbuncle) instead of the heart. This includes the jailer. But instead of a stone, there is a black hole in his chest. Allegedly, both the judge and the jailer are older than the titans themselves. So it could be that both groups were once rivals and the titans simply locked away the gods of death in their own domain.
If you take a closer look at the judge and the jailer, the two are visually very different. The judge has an angelic shape that is strongly reminiscent of the noble Kyrians. In keeping with her role as Mistress of Oribos, she wears a magnificent robe and although she has no physical shape, you can see a blue glow and hair from anima energy behind her crown. The jailer, on the other hand, appears very somber, his skin is pale and his body is tattooed with strange runes. In contrast to the judge, the jailer resembles a human being or rather a titan. According to Ion Hazzikostas, Game Director of World of Warcraft (buy now for € 14.99), there are even certain parallels between the titans and the rulers of the realm of the dead. In Shadowlands we will even learn why the Shadow Lands exist and what the gods of the dead have to do in the Warcraft universe. Anima and death itself is a much bigger story than previously thought.
But what story exactly connects the two in WoW Shadowlands? A curious shaman took a closer look at Shadowlands-Alpha a few weeks ago and discovered the two protagonists. He discovered the judge on one of the heights of Oribos. Although it is marked as "friendly", it cannot be addressed directly. That fits the story we experience in Oribos. When we arrive in Oribos, we find the servant and counsel of the judge at a loss, because her mistress has been trapped in a kind of trance for some time. In the meantime, the souls flow past her and thus past Oribos directly into the throat. The consequences of this diversion (for which Sylvanas is responsible) are catastrophic for the city as well as for the numerous empires of the Schattelande. Oribos and the lands of the pacts wither as the gullet grows and demands more and more souls. The greatest tragedy, however, is that there is no return from the throat for these hapless souls, because their animaenergy feeds a pull that threatens to devour all of Shadowlands and later Azeroth.
The size of the gullet increases the power of the jailer, who is certainly responsible for the judge's coma. With Sylvanas as an ally, the villain takes out one rival after the other and gains control of the Shadow Lands. And thanks to Sylvanas, the way to Azeroth, and thus also to reality, is not far. We must not forget that the Titans and the Old Gods have disappeared for now. For the jailer, the time is ideal to achieve absolute world domination. But no matter what goals the villain pursues in WoW Shadowlands, his existence and his connection to the judge remain a mystery to be solved.
What do you think about the topic? Do you also think that the judge and the jailer have something in common with the titans? And have there been borders between the domains since the beginning of creation or have even more powerful beings separated the worlds and their planes of existence from each other? Write us your theories in the comments!
