The new cartoon series Star Trek: Lower Decks starts in the US this August. A poster has now revealed the spaceship. We also know exactly when the series is playing.
With Star Trek: Lower Decks the next series awaits us. The adventures are not about a brave captain and his officers. The focus is on crew members that you otherwise tend not to see. These are Ensign Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford and Tendi. They go about their everyday life on board a spaceship, which is one of the least important of the Starfleet.
A first look at the unimportant spaceship
The series Star Trek: Lower Decks by Rick & Morty inventor Mike McMahan is more humor-oriented and doesn't take itself so seriously, but it is part of the Star Trek canon. It is now certain that the first season with ten 30-minute episodes will be broadcast in the USA on August 6th on the TV station CBS.
The poster for the series now finally presents the spaceship. The USS Cerritos. The poster was designed as if it were a magazine insert, including folds. This was deliberately designed to be reminiscent of the Star Trek: Next Generation posters from the 1980s and 1990s.
The adventures take place in 2380, a year after the events of the movie Star Trek: Nemesis. Mike McMahan already explained that there are good chances for guest appearances of the famous heroes from Star Trek: Next Generation. 2380 also means that the series is located 19 years before Star Trek: Picard. Basically, Jean-Luc Picard should still be captain of the USS Enterprise E.
At the moment it is not clear when the series will be shown in Germany. It is not aimed at children, but at an adult audience, since children would not understand many of the jokes and innuendos.
