A 2017 sequel to Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle leaked on Nintendo’s website just hours before this year’s Ubisoft Forward. The product page has now been deleted again, IGN was able to secure the information beforehand.

In Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Luigi, Rabbid Rosalina, and many more will “go on a galactic journey to defeat a malicious entity and save their Spark companions.”

The title is slated to hit Nintendo Switch in 2022, giving players the opportunity to explore some planets from the galaxy with a team of three heroes from an overall roster of nine characters. The description also mentioned that there are some new bosses to defeat, as well as some known enemies.

The aforementioned Sparks, of which at least one has a certain resemblance to Rosalina’s Luma, will give the characters certain abilities that should help them in battle. Each hero will also be able to sprint, jump on allies, and take cover, just like in the original.

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle was definitely one of the most surprising titles presented at E3 2017. In our review of the title, we had a few words of praise for the game and are therefore looking forward to another offshoot in the series if the leak turns out to be true, as expected.
