In a video, Sony's Masayasu Ito shows the individual components of the PS5 and demonstrates how to bring the console into a horizontal position. Microsoft has now made fun of that.

Just like the PS4, the Playstation 5 can also be operated in a vertical or a horizontal position. Depending on how much space you have, you can put the console up or down.

Horizontal or vertical? The Xbox Series X make it easy for you

As can be seen in a recent video from Sony, you first have to unscrew the base of the PS5. You then stow the screw in a small compartment in the stand itself. There you will also find a cover for the now open hole. Then hang the stand on the side of the PS5 using a hook. Now you can put it down and it should stand or lie stable.

PS5 in the teardown video: Sony officially dismantles the Playstation 5

So it takes a few steps to move the PS5 into a different position. This is simply due to the design of the console. Due to the rounded sides, it cannot be stable without the stand. These few steps might not be too much of a problem, but they did provide a target for Microsoft to attack.

The company has now also published instructions on how to use the Xbox Series X on Twitter (buy now ) from a vertical to a horizontal position: you just put them down.

So you don't have to unscrew, screw or clamp anything. This is also due to the design of the console. Because, since it is a "box", the Xbox Series X is stable on its side. This should work just as easily with the Xbox Series S.

Regardless of whether you want to set up or lay down the PS5 or Xbox Series X / S, you always have to make sure that you have enough space so that the ventilation can work properly. This is how you avoid overheating.
