New players have to create a Microsoft account as early as autumn.
The Mojang team has announced that players will soon need a Microsoft account to continue using their version of Minecraft. This change is mandatory for all players who use a Mojang or Minecraft account for the title. If you already have a Microsoft account, you can link it to the Mojang account in the future. The merger is scheduled to begin in early 2021.
New players will soon have to create a Microsoft account for Minecraft directly. The Mojang team has already announced that there will not only be e-mails with instructions, but also YouTube tutorials on how users can merge their accounts. Among other things, this step increases the security of the accounts. Among other things, two-factor authentication is then available for all players. Parents also have more control over their children's accounts. All Minecraft games on the PC will be linked to one account in the future. So far, these are Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons.
At the beginning of the month, Mojang announced another update for Minecraft with Caves & Cliffs, which will be released in summer 2021. Fans can look forward to more varied caves with new resources and opponents. Minecraft has sold over 200 million units. A film is also in production, but the date has been postponed.
