The first sales figures for PlayStation 5 show which console version is the favorite for the release. In addition, they are already presenting the millionfold success of the next-gen from Sony.
How high are the sales of the PS5?
According to a report by VGChartz has the PlayStation 5 to release worldwide between 2.1 million and 2.5 million Times sold. These estimated sales are made up of the units sold on November 12th and November 19th together.
The next-gen console was released in North America, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea on November 12th. A week later, the PS5 celebrated its release in Europe and the rest of the world. Among the total sales figures, there was already a clear one favourite stand out among the two PS5 versions.
The PS5 version with drive, available for 499 euros, is among the total numbers 75 percent of the consoles sold. The cheaper digital PS5 for 399 euros was therefore only chosen by 25 percent of the players.
The lion's share of the up to 2.5 million consoles sold is made up of the November 12 release. That day went between 1.3 million and 1.6 million PS5 copies on the digital counter. November 19th shines with a number between 800,000 to 900,000 Next-gen consoles.
But where does Germany compare? German console players have been on November 19th for about 140,000 units sold taken care of. How many of them got lost to annoying bots? Organized groups have revealed that they have stashed thousands of consoles for resale on a large scale.

In comparison, competitor Microsoft did not do quite as successfully. The Xbox Series X / S "only" sold between 1.1 million and 1.4 million times. The PS5 numbers for the pre-order phases in September are not included in this list. Accordingly, it can be assumed that the total sales of the console are likely to be a lot higher.
