In Outer Wilds you explore a solar system a few minutes before the associated sun turns into a supernova and extinguishes everything. Then you wake up and have to do everything from the beginning. This is due to a strange time warp that only you seem to know about. The game was released in 2019 and is pretty good. So it currently shows Metacritic pretty good reviews and we also had a lot of fun with the title in our test.
So it is all the more gratifying that the publisher Annapurna Interactive has announced a new expansion for the game called Echoes of the Eye for the game out of nowhere and this is due to appear in September of this year.
Echoes of the Eye will offer gamers a whole new mystery to unravel:
“A strange satellite photo for which there is no explanation. A new museum piece that marks the starting point for a final journey into the wilderness. Should you pull the thread and unravel the deepest secret of the solar system or is some knowledge better left in the dark?”
Quite suitable for Outer Wilds, a game that sends you on an exploration tour without a large tutorial or the like and a few minutes later over the Jordan, there is not much more information about the new expansion yet. The anomaly cannot be assigned to any known location in the solar system and we don’t really know anything else either. So it’s up to you to uncover the secrets of the new expansion and solve the mystery.
