The new Battlefield will appear in 2021, as the DICE developers confirm in a recent interview. It is believed that the release of the new first person shooter is planned for autumn 2021 – then on PS5, Xbox Series X and PC. No concrete details about the new Battlefield episode are available yet. EA recently indicated that it wanted to target new innovations that the new consoles bring.
EA had already announced in 2020 that no new Battlefield would appear. In a recent interview with IGN, DICE confirms again: The new first person shooter will be released in 2021. After the last major updates for Battlefield 5 and Star Wars Battlefront 2, the developers want to "focus on the future of Battlefield". Electronic Arts had announced in its current annual reports that the next Battlefield will come onto the market in the fiscal year 2022, i.e. sometime between April 2021 and March 2022.
Given the release periods of previous Battlefield offshoots, it is likely that the release is due in autumn 2021. PS5 and Xbox Series X releases are scheduled for late this year. That the new Battlefield 2021 also appears for the new consoles should be a matter of fact. EA recently announced that it would use the new first-person shooter to target innovations made possible by the next-gen consoles.
So far, there are no concrete details about gameplay or setting. DICE recently announced the end of support for Battlefield 5. The last major patch for the current first-person shooter from the developer studio will be released in summer. The Tides of War chapter ends with Chapter 6 "In the Jungle". Battlefield 5 was released in November 2018 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. (buy now for 33.66 €)
