Are you longing for the Icecrown Citadel and mourn the popular WoW expansion Wrath of the Lich King? No problem! The new login screen from WoW: Shadowlands takes us back to the good old days and shows the new face of Eiskrone and the fortress of the Lich King. There are also new pieces of music from the upcoming expansion. With us you can already listen to some of the tracks today.

The icy fortress of the Lich King is an ominous place where the boundaries between the realm of the living and the dead are very thin and permeable. Here the dead walk under the strict supervision of Bolvar Fordragon, who succeeded Arthas to the Frozen Throne at the end of Wrath of the Lich King. But the peace is short-lived. Because in a few weeks all hell will break loose in the Icecrown Citadel!

What we know so far is that Sylvanas Windläufer challenges the Lich King at the start of the next WoW expansion and defeats Bolvar in a duel. But instead of putting on the crown of dominance herself, the banshee queen destroys the cursed artifact. With this act Sylvanas tears the veil that separates reality from the hereafter and unleashes the scourge in Azeroth. This threat and the gloomy mood of WoW: Shadowlands are now capturing Blizzard's graphic designers in a particularly exciting picture that will adorn our login screens for the next few years.

A direct comparison between the classic WotLK and the new WoW Shadowlands login screen shows the great progress made by the graphics of World of Warcraft (buy now 15.00 € ) has done in the past few years.

Check out the razor-sharp details of the Icecrown Citadel fortress wall on the new screen! The quality of the illustration, which stands in front of the animated sky of the Shadowlands, is worlds better than the mediocre screenshot of Icecrown, which has really aged badly. The only detail we're missing on the new screen is actually Sindragosa. Well, the undead frost wyrm has no place in WoW: Shadowlands. Nevertheless, an animated figure would have been a perfect addition to the otherwise very static image of the citadel.

If you want to get in the mood for the upcoming WoW expansion today, you can do so with the new soundtrack from WoW: Shadowlands. There are nine new pieces of music that fit the respective topic. These are melodies for the new challenges, cinematics and level areas in Shadowlands. The absolute highlights, however, are two very special pieces of music – on the one hand "Through The Roof Of The World", the title music of WoW: Shadowlands, and "Sylvanas Free Will", which reminds us of the Banshee Queen's ice-cold determination. But listen in for yourself.

How do you like the novelties from the beta of WoW: Shadowlands? By the way, you can watch all the pieces of music that have been discovered so far on the Wowhead homepage listen.
