Daybreak Games has been divided into the three studios Dimensional Ink Games, Rogue Planet Games and Darkpaw Games and it seems like one of them is working on a successor to the MMORPG series Everquest.
Everquest 1 was launched in 1999 and is still doing well today. Everquest followed in 2004. Sony Online Interactive worked from 2009 to 2016 Everquest Next, then stopped the project.
Is Everquest 3 coming?
Now there are indications that another Everquest is in the works. The developer Studio Daybreak Games, which emerged from Sony Online Interactive, recently split into the three studios Dimensional Ink Games, Rogue Planet Games and Darkpaw Games. Darkpaw takes over the work on the Everquest series. The website reads that the developers are busy preparing "the next innovation" for the brand.
Darkpaws Holly Longdale also said that research is currently underway "where this brand could lead without restricting our ideas. We have long been creative and innovative. We want the next 10 years and beyond to be just as magical."
These hints could of course be an indication of an Everquest 3 or a new Everquest Next. But they could also mean that you want to develop the previous games Everquest 1 and 2 in new directions. A big, new game in the brand would certainly be exciting for younger players.
