Some fans of NieR: Automata have teamed up and the Steam version attacked with a review bombing to put some pressure on Square Enix and Platinum Games. The trigger for the action was the recent release of the title in Xbox Game Pass for the PC. Players have found that the "Become as Gods Edition" has significantly fewer problems on the PC.
The version available on Steam is the "Game of the YoRHa Edition" by NieR: Automata, which has been struggling with technical difficulties since its launch in 2017. These include issues with the frame rate or the user interface. To date, the makers have not released a fix for the Steam version. Instead, fans had to click on one Tool fall back on the community to take care of some of the issues.
In 2018, the "Become as Gods Edition" was released, an Xbox-exclusive version for Xbox and Windows 10, which is now much more stable. With the review bombing, fans are now calling on the developers to publish corresponding updates for the Steam version of NieR: Automata as well. Only 36% of the last 2,700 reviews in the last 30 days were positive. Why Platinum Games has not implemented any further updates for the "Game of the YoRHa Edition" remains unclear. In terms of content, the editions hardly differ. Both offer the main game including all DLCs – there are only few differences between the versions when it comes to cosmetic items.
