Nintendo Labo: is Nintendo letting the innovative cardboard toy die? – Current games
The question arose on Reddit whether Nintendo has stopped producing Labo. Allegedly, the company should no longer offer the products.
Nintendo Labo is probably dead
Nintendo itself has not yet commented on the status of Labo, but there are some indications that we won't see any more products about it. It's not that easy to find all Labo articles in stores. And it's getting harder every month. It seems that retailers are only selling the remaining stock and are no longer adding any new goods. And even with the items that are still available, there are occasional sales with special offers. It seems like Nintendo Labo (buy now € 16.31 ) just let them die quietly and secretly.
In any case, the Labo concept was very interesting and innovative. The different sets consisted of cardboard sheets that could be assembled into models. In combination with the Joy-Cons of the Switch and the console itself, it was possible to develop interesting game concepts. Players could build fishing rods and catch fish in a game, or they could build a VR headset and use it to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, for example. A piano that could be played properly was also possible. But apparently the principle has not prevailed. This could also have been due to the fact that when you bought a set you always had the feeling that you had just bought a little cardboard at a high price.
Whether new sets will appear or Nintendo is working on something new that is similarly innovative cannot be said at the moment.
