Since the March 2017 release, the Nintendo Switch has been on a tireless triumphal march. After the previous Wii U console flopped, many had already written off the Japanese company. But the hybrid console has been giving the lie to all critics for over three years. Now Nintendo has presented the latest business figures, including the officially sold number of Switch consoles – up to and including June 30, 2020. With the further sales since that date, the Switch is now likely to have overtaken the NES and is now number 2 among the most successful Nintendo- Landing home consoles of all time.
Every three months, Nintendo, as a listed company, fulfills its duty and presents the latest business figures for the past business quarter to the public. That means a lot of interesting figures and information for investors and industry insiders, but also numerous Nintendo fans are eagerly awaiting every new idea. Because then Nintendo updates the every time Switch sales and the most successful games for the hybrid console.

Switch overtakes NES
From April to June 2020, Nintendo was able to sell many millions of switch consoles around the world again, despite all problems during the production during the pandemic. By the cut-off date of June 30, 2020, the Switch now comes up with this 61.44 million units sold. In view of the devices that have been sold since that date until today, the Switch should (buy now for € 429.99) now ranked second among the most successful Nintendo home consoles of all time, right behind the Wii.

- Wii: 101.63 million
- NES: 61.91 million
- Switch: 61.44 million
- SNES: 49.1 million
- Nintendo 64: 32.93 million
- Gamecube: 21.74 million
- Wii U: 13.56 million
The most successful Switch game, however, is still Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with now 26.74 million sales, followed by Animal Crossing: New Horizons (22.4 million), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (19.99 million) and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (18.6 million). Game sales always include both retail and digital sales. The numbers for the switch summarize the normal switch and the Switch Lite.
