The developers of Pokémon Go reassure the players of the AR app: If you have brought your buddy to play on the Oberwelt map and are developing it, it is quite possible that it will no longer be displayed until the app is restarted. So before you panic that your buddy has disappeared, just restart the game quickly and your beast should reappear. Apart from that, there are currently all sorts of problems, the cause of which the people at Niantic are investigating. Below is a brief overview about current known problems.

Known Issues in Pokémon Go August 2021

Buddy Pokémon can disappear from the Overworld map after they evolve until the app is restarted.
Description of problem: Trainers may see their buddy disappear from the map after developing him.
Status of the problem: Under investigation
Workaround: If the trainer closes and re-opens his app in the meantime, his friend will reappear.

Pokémon that have an Evolution that requires walking will appear as if the accumulated distance has been reset.
Description of the problem: A Pokémon whose development requires the Trainer to walk a certain distance with the Pokémon will appear as if its previous distance has been reset to complete this task if the Pokémon is not currently the Trainer’s buddy. However, as soon as a trainer uses the Pokémon as a buddy again, the accumulated distance is displayed. This is a side effect of a visual improvement in the running distance requirement for developments.
Status of the problem: Resolved when a trainer uses the Pokémon as a buddy again.

Trainers’ daily PokéStop spins are counted when they try to spin a PokéStop, even if their item bag is full.
Description of the problem: Trainers cannot successfully complete their seven-day PokéStop Daily Spinning Series if their item bag is full, but their Spinning Series is marked complete.
Status of the problem: Fixed in the upcoming version (0.217)

Costumed Raid Boss Pokémon will lose their costume if they are caught after a special event ends.
Description of the problem: A costumed raid boss during a special event will lose his costume if he is caught after the end of the event, even if the raid battle takes place shortly before the end of the event. For GO Fest trainers who fight shortly before the end of each day, it should be noted that the GO Fest ends on July 17th and 18th at 6 p.m. local time.

Costumed Pokemon from certain events may not display properly in the Pokédex.
Problem description: Some costumed Pokemon, such as B. Galar Zigzachs and Galar Ponita, may load as a white ball of light when trying to display them in the Pokédex.

Trainers can get the wrong dialogue from Professor Willow during Special Research.
Problem description: If you have an open choice from a previous special research and choose a new special research, you get the dialogue of the previous special research. However, this is only visual and you will receive the correct rewards from the current special research.
Problem Status: Under investigation. If you run into this issue and want to see what Professor Willow said, you can click on the Professor Willow Special Research Icon to bring up his dialog again.

A weather effect flashes on trainers who use certain Samsung devices.
Description of the problem: On certain Samsung devices, especially outside of the United States, Trainers may see a short blink caused by weather effects in the map view.
Issue Status: Defused at release by removing certain card effects. Fixed in an upcoming version (0.217)

In-app purchases can take up to 72 hours to appear in a trainer’s inventory.
Description of the problem: For a small percentage of Trainers, it can take up to 72 hours for the item to appear in their item bag after an in-app purchase.
Status of the problem: The problem was fixed in (0.213) and we are still investigating the cause. If you have not received your item after more than 72 hours or if you cannot access an event due to this problem, please contact support with the purchase receipt including the order number and the e-mail corresponding to the Pokémon GO account Address.

Pokémon appear in the Pokédex in all forms if only one form is caught.
Description of the problem: When a trainer catches a Pokémon, all forms of that Pokémon will appear in the Pokédex, even if the trainer has not yet caught the alternate forms of that Pokémon.
Status of the problem: Fixed in the upcoming version (0.219)

Promotion codes from the email “We missed you, trainer” cannot be redeemed.
Description of the problem: When trainers try to redeem the promotional code from the “We missed you, trainer” email, they will receive a warning “Code must contain at least 13 characters” and will not be able to redeem the code.
Problem status: The problem is being investigated. Please contact Niantic Support with a screenshot of the redemption page and your trainer name associated with the code if you have this problem.

If you navigate to the Pokédex entry of a Mega Pokémon, the entry Bisaflor is displayed.
Description of the problem: If a Trainer mega-evolved one of their Pokémon and tries to navigate to the Pokédex entry for that mega-evolved Pokémon, they will see the Pokédex entry for Bisaflor instead.
Problem status: Under investigation

Sorting the online status on the Friends page does not work.
Description of the problem: When the “Online” sort option is used on the “Friends” page, friends who are currently online are not placed at the top of the page. Trainers can still see which friends are online, but they are not sorted.

Trainers experience recurring issues with Adventure Sync on iOS devices.
Description of the problem: Trainers may have problems turning adventure sync on or off, or inaccurate distance measurement.
Problem status: Under investigation

Trainers receive an “ERROR_GIFT_DOES_NOT_EXIST” message when trying to open a gift from a friend.
Description of the problem: When a trainer selects a gift received from a friend, the gift sometimes disappears and they receive an “ERROR_GIFT_DOES_NOT_EXIST” message. The gift will then disappear from the inventory and the items will not be received.
Status of the problem: Under investigation
