In November 2019, Path of Exile 2 was unveiled at ExileCon. The sequel to the popular ARPG by GGG has been a constant mental companion for fans ever since – but when will the sequel finally be released? In 2021 there will probably be nothing more.

Where's Path of Exile 2? After the big unveiling at ExileCon in November 2019, apart from concept art about the classes and small information bites, it has become pretty quiet about the sequel. The developers received thunderous applause for what had presented. A beta was originally supposed to start even in 2020, but an unforeseen pandemic intervened. In a phone call with PCGamer, studio boss Chris Wilson has now commented on the release of Path of Exile 2.

Path of Exile 2: ExileCon Trailer Reveals Gameplay

Path of Exile 2 is postponed due to Corona – really!

Wilson himself insists that he hates the excuse that Covid-19 is to blame, but he says that is the truth. Because the borders of New Zealand (where the GGG development studio is at home) are closed, and accordingly the growth of the asset team has been limited "in a bit". The development process was not as fast as expected, which is why the developers want to accelerate particularly in 2021 to advance Path of Exile 2. At the end of 2021, it should also be possible to estimate a release date.

Appears Path of Exile 2 in 2022? Chris Wilson answers this question with a "Yes, I think that's true."

Path of Exile 2 will probably not be released until 2022, but the next update for Path of Exile - Echoes of the Atlas - will go live on January 15th!

Upcoming updates prepare for Path of Exile 2

Of course, that doesn't mean that PoE fans have nothing to do with it. Path of Exile 2 will represent the next level of the game, earned MTX (through challenges, prizes or the shop) will also be taken over. So if you dive into the next updates – like Echoes of the Atlas on January 15th – you will see content that gets you in the mood for Path of Exile 2. The new maps in the Atlas of Worlds will be visually much more impressive, because the responsible designers are also designing areas for Path of Exile 2 at the same time.

Are you still looking forward to Path of Exile 2? Or did the long wait slow down your enthusiasm? Are you going to check out Echoes of the Atlas? Write to us, the comment area is waiting!
