Fans of the classic role-playing game Neverwinter Nights can now download the game from the App Store and play it on the iPad or iPhone. The mobile version is not cheap, but offers a lot of free DLCs.
You can now play almost all old classic games on smartphones and tablets – after all, the mini-computers are much more powerful than what we had 20 years ago. Neverwinter Nights, published in 2002, is meanwhile too landed in the App Store and can be purchased for € 10.99.
Who is put off by the price has to take into account that not only the main game, but also six expansions are available via DLC. According to the developers, Neverwinter promises nights (buy now) for iOS over 100 hours of gameplay – and that doesn't include the six DLCs. If you feel like it, you can go on your adventure in Neverwinter Nights with friends and explore the Forgotten Realms in a group.
However, you should be able to speak English, because so far the mobile version of the classic role-playing game is only available with an English language package. You should also use a smartphone with a large display (7 inches or larger); the developers even recommend a tablet for the best gaming experience. Admittedly, even the latest iPhones only come close to 7 inches. The iPhone 11, for example, is 6.1 inches.
If you are hooked on Neverwinter Nights on your smartphone, but you are not yet sure whether you want to spend eleven euros on the retro trip, you can get an insight into the mobile version of the classic in the video below. In the video you can see the first 45 minutes of Neverwinter Nights gamplay. Not only old RPG hands get their money's worth: The first 45 minutes of the game are largely occupied with the tutorial of the game.
