Update we 4. May 2021:

Party time, trainer! The Illuminating Legends are on the loose, at least in the event of the same name in Pokémon Go. The event brings a lot of interesting content with it! Until May 17, 2021, more dragon and fairy Pokémon will appear in the wild, including the new Parfi, Fluffy, Viscora and – if you are diligent in the Global Challenge – also Pampam. For the Global Challenge, 500,000,000 Fairy Pokémon must be caught worldwide. The progress is not displayed in the game, but announced by the developers on Twitter.

Accordingly, the developments Parfinesse, Sabbaione, Viscargot and Viscogon and possibly Pandagro are also available. The same applies to Xerneas, which you can find in the Tier 5 raids – click here for the counterattack guide. Galar Ponita is also the new Shiny. It fits, after all, Galar Ponita will come out of the research breakthrough by June 1, 2021 at 10:00 p.m.

Temporary research on Illuminating Legends X

There is limited research on Illuminating Legends X, which among other things brings you a super rocket radar – you also need that if you want to challenge Giovanni and Crypto-Lavados to battle. Too bad: Unfortunately there are no reward encounters with the new pocket monsters as part of the limited research (all steps and rewards below).

For this you should look out for the field research “Catch 10 Fairy-Type Pokémon” and “Use 7 Berries when Catching Pokémon”, because they reward you with a Parfi or Fluffy encounter. The field research to catch 10 dragon Pokémon is also interesting, then there is an encounter with Kaumalat.

Here are the steps and rewards of Temporary Research, which will also bring you all sorts of XP. Have fun with it!

Original message from April 27, 2021: Wow! The creators of Pokémon Go have announced the Illuminating Legends X and Illuminating Legends Y events, and my oh my, they are full of new content – especially new Pokémon from the Kalos region that will appear in Pokémon Go for the first time! The Illuminating Legends X event will take place from May 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. to May 17, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. and here, in our guide, you will find all the dirty details!

Xerneas and Yveltal

Xerneas will appear in Tier 5 Raid Battles starting May 4, 2021. It was originally discovered in the Kalos region. Its antlers glow in the colors of the rainbow and, according to legends, it gives eternal life. The creators of Pokémon Go formulated their information to the community in such a way that it can be assumed that Yveltal, the legendary Destruction Pokémon, will appear in the tier 5 raids from May 19, 2021.

Parfi, fluff and viscora

Like other Dragon and Fairy Pokémon (e.g. Dratini, Trasla, Child worm, and Waumboll), Parfi and Fluffy appear more frequently in the wild. If you are lucky, you might even meet a wild Viscora! Perfume and fluff can also hatch from 7km eggs and get hold of event field research.

Rain Lure Module and Temporary Research

This lure module attracts Pokémon that like rain, such as water, beetle and electric Pokémon. If you are in the vicinity of a PokéStop with an active rain lock module, you can develop Viscargot (the further development of Viscora) into Viscogon. Viscargot can also be developed when it is raining in the game. In the exclusive Temporary Research (details below) you will encounter fairy Pokémon such as Parfi and Fluffy and receive rewards such as a rain lure module.

Dragoran and Brutalanda with new attacks

Dragoran and Brutalanda can learn special attacks during the event. If you develop Dragonir or use a Charger TM for Dragoran, Draco Meteor can learn. If you develop Draschel or use a Charge TM for Brutalanda, it can learn Tantrum.

Global challenge for Pam-Pam

From May 1, 2021 at 2:00 a.m. to May 10, 2021 at 1:59 a.m. (the Times have since been corrected by Niantic) to collectively catch a total of 500 million Fairy Pokémon. If the goal is achieved, the following will be active from May 11, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. to May 17, 2021 at 8:00 p.m.

  • For the remainder of the event, you’ll earn three times as many Catch XP.
  • Pam-Pam will appear in raid battles for the remainder of the event, making her debut in Pokémon GO.
  • With luck you will meet a shimmering Galar-Ponita! Even after the event, it is still possible to encounter a shimmering specimen.
