Pokémon Go: Mega Pokémon do the mega bends

from Susanne Braun
The developers of Pokémon Go announced in their outlook for the December 2020 events that Mega-Turtok is leaving the mega-raids in favor of Mega-Rexblisar. But apparently there is a mega-eviction, because mega-charizard Y, mega-pigeon boss and mega-dog-monkey will also disappear from the mega raids from December 1, 2020 from 10:00 p.m.

Looking ahead to the events in Pokémon Go in December 2020, the developers of Niantic said that Mega-Turtok would disappear from the raids and that Mega-Rexblisar would come into the raids instead. So it is written in the announcement and nothing else. The quote:

"In addition, Mega-Rexblisar will take the place of Mega-Turtok in mega-raids from Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 10 p.m. CET. Until then, Mega-Turtok will appear more frequently in mega-raids, so challenge it while you still can can!"

But apparently there were more reasons for the makers of Pokémon Go to clear out the mega-raids. As they now announce via Twitter, on December 1, 2020 from 10:00 p.m., not only will Mega-Turtok disappear for the time being, but also Mega-Hundemon, Mega-Pigeon Boss and Mega-Charizard Y. That means that from the deadline just one time Mega Charizard X, Mega Gengar and then Mega Rexblisar spawn in the Mega Raids.

We can only guess why the people at Niantic are cleaning up. It can be assumed that the mega-evolutions of Turtok, Hundemon and Tauboss as well as Mega-Charizard Y will make way for new mega-Pokémon on the one hand (see Mega-Rexblisar). On the other hand, these Mon are not particularly strong counterattacks in the Pokémon Go metagame. Hundemon could still be excluded if Mega-Gengar had not been unleashed on the community shortly after its appearance – Mega-Gengar has virtually replaced Mega-Hundemon. Disregarding the reasons for this decision, the decision of the developers of Pokémon Go is definitely welcome. Because there are currently too many spawn options in the mega raids that are simply uninteresting for many players.

By the way: Since originally only Mega-Turtok was to be canceled, Mega-Turtok should also spawn more frequently until December 1st, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. The English article on the events in December 2020 has now been expanded to include Mega Hundemon, Mega Pigeon Boss and Mega Charizard Y, but there is no longer any reference to increased spawns.
