Mega deal: Microsoft wants to spend 10 billion
Microsoft caused quite a stir last year with a huge deal worth $ 7.5 billion. The parent company of Bethesda, ZeniMax Media switched to the console manufacturer and thus entered a Wave of change in the games industry, including new exclusive games.
Now Microsoft wants to swallow the next big fish. We are talking about the popular chat tool Discord, which practically connects gaming communities with one another. According to IGN Microsoft would like whole ten billion dollars invest and would even spend more than for Bethesda and strong franchises such as Fallout, The Elder Scrolls and Co.
So far, however, it has only been Talks and expressions of interest, a concrete deal and a deal are not on the table yet. Microsoft is also not the only interested party. Apparently companies like Epic Games or Amazon to be in a conversation.
Discord is said to have approached Microsoft during the ongoing negotiations. Also Xbox-Chef Phil Spencer be on board. A popular communication tool like Discord with an existing community of over 140 million monthly users, would be a great addition to the Xbox platform.
Discord and Xbox, a strong community?
So far, Xbox players already have the option of theirs Connect account to Discord, to see what friends are up to there. A merger would expand the possibilities many times over.
The proposed deal fits in with the Aspirations by Xbox to offer a platform on which all gamers benefit equally. The Xbox Game Pass, with the union of PC, console and mobile players, shows this strategy very clearly. View One Month Xbox Game Pass Membership Now on Amazon:
