Project Athia: New information about Square Enix 'PS5 graphics cracker
Project Athia, which Sony and Square Enix showed during the PS5 showcase, will be an open-world game, as the developers have now revealed. However, it is still not clear whether it is an RPG or an action adventure.
With the trailer too Project Athia wanted to show Sony and Square Enix what the PS5 can do. The first fairly short video looked fantastic, but left many questions unanswered.
Explore a huge open world
Now we know that Project Athia is an open world game. The beautiful landscape that you see in the video can be freely explored. Square Enix 'President Yosuke Matsuda said:
"The Project Athia game (tentative title) that we will be releasing for PS5 is an open-world style game that allows players to move freely around the world. The PS5 dramatically improves video technology, for example through implementation the light reflecting "ray tracing" technology. Compared to what you see on the PC, it is almost identical. By using these special features we are able to create incredibly precise images. We still plan balanced Developing games that are tailored to the characteristics of a platform, including smartphone and cloud-based games, but we will never stop developing for high-end platforms like the PS5, because these things are packed with the best technology. "
So ray tracing is used to calculate the lighting, which makes the game world particularly pretty. However, it is not clear what Project Athia really is. Is it an RPG? Is it an action adventure? An action game in an open game world? Square Enix may tell us more at the Toyko Game Show, which takes place online from September 23rd to 27th.
