Epic Games confirms: Fortnite appears for PS5 and Xbox Series X – and will be available for the new consoles from the launch days. "The release is not just a simple old generation port, but a completely new build, optimized for the new consoles," the developers said. All previous Fortnite players can take their progress with them to the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft and pick up where they left off.

For the next-gen Fortnite on PS5 and Xbox Series X, for example, Epic Games has announced 4K resolutions at 60 frames per second – the same applies to split-screen mode. On the Xbox Series S, however, a 1080p resolution at 60 fps should be achieved. The update also includes Dynamic Visuals and Physics. The integrated SSD on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X also enables faster loading times. Epic Games speaks of joining the matches faster.

"Players can expect a more dynamic and interactive world with grass and trees that react to explosions, improved simulations for smoke and liquid and completely new storm and cloud effects," announced Epic Games for Xbox Series X and PS5. On PS5, the Battle Royale shooter also supports the DualSense controller. Epic Games said: "Haptic feedback gives gamers the feeling that they are holding the suppressed SMG or the sniper rifle with bolt action. In addition to general vibration support, Epic Games has integrated haptic trigger feedback for ranged weapons on the new DualSense controller."

Fortnite also supports (buy now € 16.25 ) the new activities function on the home screen on PS5. This means, for example, that you can go directly to the Battle Royale lobby, where either solo, duos or squads can be selected. Once players have entered the lobby, they can queue up for the chosen mode. Fortnite will be available on Xbox Series X November 10 and PS5 November 19.
