PS5: Console updates declare war on important problem

The ventilation of the PlayStation has been a tiresome topic for years, but with the PlayStation 5 it should be different, at least in theory. In the future, Sony would like to optimize the internal ventilation via online updates.

PS5: The busy fan receives support

There are only four weeks left before the first will be able to plunge into the adventure of Sony's next-gen console. Despite numerous shortcomings in the predecessors, this was quickly sold out and is eagerly awaited. For just 399 and 499 euros, the PlayStation 5 not only offers faster loading times, better graphics and more, but also ventilation optimized for every game, so that the era of the hot jet jet comes to an end.

Secure the sequel to the hit game Horizon Zero Dawn for PS5.

PS5: control by sensors

In an interview with 4Gamer.net, Sony's vice president of mechanical design Yasuhiro Ootori spoke about system changes the company will introduce with the PlayStation 5. The focus is on the behavior of the Accelerated Processing Unit (APU), which will determine in every gamehow hard the fan is working.

“In the future, different games will be published and data on the behavior of the APU will be collected in each game. We have a plan to optimize the fan control based on this data, ”said Ootori.

According to Sony, there are three temperature sensors on the motherboard that measure the heat of the system and can ensure that the fan reacts correctly. In conjunction with the temperature sensor in the APU, the PS5 enables better heat dissipation, no matter how much the console is stressed.

In theory that sounds good, you will find out how it works in practice from November 19, 2020.
