With the launch of the PS5, Sony is also introducing a new PlayStation Store. As the publisher announced in the video on the user interface, the online shop on PlayStation 5 will be integrated directly into the system – this should improve performance significantly. A new version of the PlayStation Store will be available before the release of the PS5: In an email to PSN users, Sony announced that the new version would be available between October 21st and 26th for desktop and October 28th for mobile To play devices. Purchases of content for PS3, PSP and PS Vita will no longer be possible. The same goes for some PS4 content.
Sony is preparing the launch of the new PlayStation Store. As the publisher in the video for PlayStation 5 user interface announced, the online shop will be integrated directly into the system on the new console. This should noticeably improve the shopping experience and performance – the SSD built into the PS5 should also bring an advantage for faster loading times. Sony will roll out the new version of the PlayStation Store on desktop and mobile devices before the PS5 is released. As the Website Gematsu citing an e-mail sent by Sony to PSN users, the publisher will install the new desktop version between October 21 and 26, followed by the mobile version on October 28.
With the new version of the PlayStation Store, it is no longer possible to purchase content for the old systems PS3, PS Vita and PSP. The same applies to apps, themes and avatars via the desktop and mobile application of the PlayStation Store. In addition, Sony has announced that it will no longer continue the wish list for the systems: content that is in your wish list will be removed.
Content for PS3, PSP and PS Vita as well as avatars, themes and apps for PS4 can still be purchased in the PlayStation Stores on the individual consoles. There are uncertainties about the date of the upcoming store update: While the mentioned e-mail states October 21 as the start time, Sony lists the Support website October 19th.
