Many Warcraft fans are unhappy with the long-awaited reissue of the real-time strategy classic Warcraft 3. So unfortunate that the Community Reforged punishes Metacritic with the currently lowest user score in the entire PC game catalog. By the way, a developer from Blizzard has commented on the feedback from the players and apologized.
You have surely noticed: Many Warcraft fans are disappointed with Warcraft 3: Reforged and mad at the developers of Blizzard. There are several reasons for this. Most of all, it should annoy many players that, on the one hand, a lot of promised and shown (!) Content, which is partly advertised on the game's website, did not make it into the finished product; the revamped in-game sequences, for example, the revamped user interface or the new story parts for characters that later played a larger role in World of Warcraft.
On the other hand, many features of the original are currently missing, for example leaderboards, clan features, automated tournaments or custom campaigns. If you want to play Warcraft 3 online, you can no longer access the original Warcraft 3, but will automatically land at Reforged. On top of that, the new edition has a surprising number of technical problems. Sometimes missions of the campaign cannot be completed, sometimes the performance drops.
However, the disappointed fans are not content to clearly formulate a corresponding feedback on the various portals. Also on Metacritic the disappointment is clearly reflected. Warcraft 3: Reforged actually has the lowest average rating of all PC games with a user score of 0.5. According to Gamestar The community even deliberately cleared the previous bearer of the red lantern: Day One: Garry's Incident has received several unusually high ratings in the past few days, some with comments such as "Still better than Warcraft 3: Reforged".
And what does Blizzard say about it? Well, an official statement is missing so far. However, game designer Matt Morris replied via Twitter to a comment from a disappointing Warcraft fan.
"I'm sorry it didn't meet your expectations. We're working hard to keep improving the game. And hopefully we'll meet your expectations … sorry again."
The reactions to this post are mixed. While some fans thank the developer for the reaction and now want a roadmap that Blizzard could use to show outside that they really want to meet expectations, others react with ridicule and incomprehension for what they think is the disastrous quality of the new edition.
How do you rate the whole thing? Have you played in Reforged yet? Are you disappointed too? Or are you having fun with the campaign? Let us know in the comments!
