According to journalist Jason Schreier, a remake of the popular Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is in development. The responsible studio is already very familiar with the game.
The rumors of a remake of the fan-favorite Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic have been around for a long time, but now there is a reliable source that confirms the project. The journalist Jason Schreier (Bloomberg) is known for reliable information and is considered an industry insider. In a YouTube channel interview MinnMaxShow he talks about the KOTOR: Remake, among other things.
A remake by experts
During the conversation between Ben Hanson and Jason Schreier, the Bloomberg journalist initially only speaks vaguely about the remake of the Star Wars classic from 2003. Towards the end of the interview, however, the subject comes up again and Schreier confirms the remake:
“I basically confirmed that Aspyr, the company that ported a lot of KOTOR games, is working on a remake.”
Aspyr Media hat not only KOTOR 1 and 2, but also various other Star Wars games ported to various other platforms and are therefore very familiar with the games. Even before Schreier testified, the company was considered the best candidate to take over the new edition.
In one Stream Aspyr and the parent company Embracer Group talked about future projects in February 2021 as a $ 70 million project based on an existing game. In a thread in the Resetera-Forum KOTOR was discussed as a possible game.
This approach worked well with the remake of Demon’s Souls. The Bluepoint studio, which also took care of the porting, developed the PS5 remake of Fromm Software’s successful role-playing game, and with great success.

Jason Schreier did not reveal any further information in the interview. There is no official announcement yet, but since Schreier is considered a reliable source, fans of KOTOR can cheer cautiously.
