Would you like to experience adventures with Sam and Max again? There are no new ones for the time being, but you can experience the first season of Telltale Games as a remaster. Sam & Max Save the World Remastered will be released in December for PC and Nintendo Switch.
The dog and the rabbit come back
Sam and Max are already a few years old. Sam & Max Hit the Road was released as a classic 2D point and click adventure in 1993 by LucasArts. In 2002 a successor was announced with Sam & Max Freelance Police, but this was discontinued in 2004 in favor of a focus on Star Wars games. The game's development team then founded Telltale Games. LucasArts lost the licensing rights to Sam and Max in 2005 and the inventor of the cartoon characters, Steve Purcell, eventually worked with Telltale Games on a new game. This was published in episode form from 2006, spread over three seasons.
In the adventure, the two heroes, Sam and Max, set out to find out why a former child star is running amok on the streets. There is much more to this strange case, as the two soon discover. You will experience the new edition with improved graphics, new widescreen and gamepad support, five new music titles and the same tricky puzzles and the same weird humor as in the original.
The release of Sam & Max Save the World Remastered could also be followed by a release of the other two seasons. At least that's what the game's website suggests – which would make perfect sense, too. In 2021 there will be another game with the two heroes. Sam & Max: This Time it's Virtual is a VR action adventure that is probably very different from classic adventure games.
