Removed in-game advertising after the fans' shit storm

from André Left
With the insertion of special in-game advertisements on UFC 4, Electronic Arts drew the displeasure of many fans. This did not leave the publisher without a trace, who has now removed the criticized insertions and made a suitable statement.

When the new MMA game UFC 4 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One hit the market last month, it was immediately followed by a great outcry from among the community. The reason was quickly found: At the beginning and at the end of the replays, in-game advertisements could be seen. In this case, it was a trailer for the second season of the Amazon series The Boys, which started on September 4, 2020. However, since UFC 4 is a full-price game, the advertising pissed off many fans.

Fittingly: UFC 4 in the big test by PC Games

All of this criticism did not leave the publisher Electronic Arts unaffected. He has now reacted to the shitstorm of the fans and removed the adverts mentioned. There is also an opinion to the Eurogamer magazine, which is supposed to clarify the facts about the overlays in UFC 4. There it says:

"Your feedback makes it very clear to us that the inclusion of advertising in the replays and overlays is not welcome. The team has since turned this advertising off, and we apologize for any interruption in gameplay that players have experienced. ..) We understand that we should have communicated this to the players beforehand, it's our fault, and we want to make sure that the players have the best experience possible when they play EA SPORTS UFC 4 (buy now € 65.95 ) play. Hence, the inclusion of advertising in replays and overlays will not return in the future. Thank you for your continued feedback on EA SPORTS UFC 4. "

What's your opinion about …? Did the ads in UFC 4 also bother you extremely or did you live with it? Let us know in the comments!

We give all readers daily free news, articles, guides, videos and podcasts on their favorite games. So far we have financed this site through advertising and kept it as free of clickbaits or paid items as possible, but since COVID-19 this has become increasingly difficult. Budgets that we unfortunately have to rely on if we want to continue to offer PC games free of charge as usual in the future.

For this reason we turn to you now. You can support us as a PC Games supporter so that we can continue to offer our content in the usual form free of charge without introducing a paywall or publishing clickbait news like "And you won't believe what happened next …" .
