In Los Angeles and the surrounding area, a man has raided several GameStop stores and stolen items worth over $ 130,000. The offender is now serving a 10-year prison sentence.
28-year-old Frederick Lopez Jr. was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he raided several GameStop stores with a gun and items of value in 2018 $ 131,000 such as $ 1,300 cash captured. This goes from one Department of Justice press release out.
He raided various branches four times at night and forced the staff still present to hold articles for him at gunpoint. Of course, he not only took coffee cups and Funko pop figures with him, but also Consoles and video games,
The court also sentenced him to repay the stolen amount as compensation. His high prison sentence goes, however not on the high sum back but on the "Serious nature of his crimes". The press release states:
"Armed robberies, waving a gun at the victims, leave constant stress and trauma that victims keep in mind for years and some for the rest of their lives."
The last year has also not been going so well for GameStop: the group made losses and even had to close branches.
GameStop relies heavily on launching the next generation of consoles and selling PS5 and Xbox Series X to give the company new momentum. Do you think the new consoles are enough or is GameStop facing a completely different problem? Please write us your opinion in the comments!
