Knaller tariff at MediaMarkt: Currently there is the Galaxy S20 under contract with 6 GB LTE volume in the Vodafone network and a Nintendo Switch Lite as an extra. We explain how it works – and whether there are any catches.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE and Nintendo Switch Lite

With the one presented in October Galaxy S20 FE Samsung has slightly modified its 2020 flagship. The "Fan Edition" is slightly larger than the normal Galaxy S20, but smaller than the Galaxy S20 Plus. It has a flat display and a larger battery than the normal Galaxy S20. GIGA-test for the Galaxy S20 FE gabs good 8.1 out of 10 points.

MediaMarkt is currently offering several tariffs with the Galaxy S20 FE, including bundles with the popular Nintendo Switch Lite handheld console. The best of the tariffs is almost worth it if you only want a mobile phone and console: The bundle costs little more in the contract than the console and mobile phone purchased individually – the tariff is almost the icing on the cake.

The contract: Allnet-Flat and 6 GB LTE in the Vodafone network

The tariff is also impressive. These are the most important services at a glance:

  • Tariff: Mobilcom-Debitel green LTE 6 GB
  • Network: Vodafone
  • 6 GB LTE (max. 50 Mbit / s)
  • Allnet-Flat for telephony in all German networks
  • SMS in German networks: 0.19 euros (no flat rate)
  • EU roaming included
  • 24 months minimum term, 3 months notice period

Of all things: why the offer is worthwhile

As always, we recommend that you cancel cell phone contracts in good time at the end of the term. The following costs await you if you use the contract for 24 months.

  • Tariff for monthly 26.99 euros, over 24 months minimum contract period a total of 647.76 euros
  • Samsung Galaxy S20 FE + Nintendo Switch Lite for one-time 49 euros Device payment
  • Connection price of one-time 39.99 euros
  • together 736.75 euros total costs over 24 months minimum contract period

And what do you get for it? Let's first calculate the value of the hardware against:

  • According to idealo, the Galaxy S20 FE has a current best price of 499 euros.
  • The Switch Lite currently costs at least 199.95 euros, according to idealo.
  • So the hardware has one Value of 698.95 euros.

We subtract the hardware value from the total cost. The effective remaining is 736.75 euros – 698.95 euros = 37.80 euros for the tariff over 24 months left over, which is approx. 1.58 euros per month corresponds. Anyone who compares contracts a lot knows: this is a excellent price for an all-network flat rate with 6 GB LTE in the Vodafone network. Is there a catch? Well, at least two ticks: On the one hand, this deal does not offer a SMS flat rate. The other: A mobile phone contract represents a monthly obligation and is not a financing option for hardware. Make sure you always cancel contracts in good time. We explain why here:

For whom is the offer worthwhile?

The deal is perfect for everyone who is after the new Samsung smartphone and needs a suitable tariff. With the Nintendo Switch Lite you also get a top bonus on top of that, which you can of course use yourself, give away or resell. 6 GB of LTE data volume per month should be enough for most. It should be emphasized also that their surfs the well-developed Vodafone network and the phone. The disadvantage is that the offer does not include an SMS flat rate. However, if you already mostly communicates via WhatsApp or other messengers that can certainly get over.

Are there alternatives?

If you want more data volume and an SMS flat rate, you can also take advantage of a similar offer in the CO2 network. Here you can get the Galaxy S20 FE, Nintendo Switch Lite and 20 GB of data at maximum speed for 29.99 euros per month and a one-time fee of 48.84 euros. Total costs over 24 months, minimum contract period: 768.60 euros.
