Rather, the films end up here that are hardly trusted by the studio anyway. Pikachu appeared in contrast in May, where the visitor numbers are much better.

If you look at Sonic's worldwide audience figures, you already get $ 100 million – so the film is almost certain to be a box office hit, because it has already brought its production budget back in. Due to marketing and redesign costs, the film has to reach at least 200 million to be worth it.


Why is Sonic so popular?

Now the question naturally arises: why is Sonic such a success? There is no clear explanation for this, but there are some theories. In the USA, for example, the film enjoyed ideal starting conditions thanks to the "The Presidents Day" weekend – parents wanted to take their children to the cinema, there were hardly any other films that would have competed in this regard.
