Did you miss the villain Electro from Sony's movie The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro? Then you should be happy to know that he will appear again in the next strip.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro with actor Andrew Garfield ended the reboot of the Sony Pictures film series prematurely because the flick flopped at the box office. But now the villain Electro returns from the film.

A mysterious return

As the Hollywood Reporter website reports, actor Jamie Foxx is in the final stages of negotiations to return as Electro in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. Fans are now wondering why the bad guy is returning. With J.K. We saw Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home a familiar face. Because Simmons played Jameson in the Spidey films with actor Tobey Maguire.

Are they supposed to be indications that we are seeing some kind of multiverse story? The multiverse was introduced with the last Avengers movie and could now play a bigger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There has to be a special reason for Jamie Foxx's return as electro. For the MCU, the villain part could have simply been recast. After all, neither Tobey Maguire nor Andrew Garfield play Peter Parker. The role went to Tom Holland.

It is quite possible that there is more to the two roles of J. Jonah Jameson and Electro. An adventure that leads Spidey through several universes, in which he may then also encounter alternative versions of himself, would have something and would also fit together with Sony's successful animated film Spider-Man: A New Universe. This film also featured multiple versions of the friendly neighborhood spider.

We'll see what the return of Electro in Spider-Man 3 is all about. According to current plans, the film should come to the cinemas in December 2021 – if Corona does not cause postponements.
