Your Spider-Man save for PS4 cannot be carried over to the upcoming new edition for PS5. Insomniac Games announced this via Twitter. Accordingly, fans have to start all over again with the Spidey adventure. The remaster is part of the Ultimate Edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Both titles will be available for the PS5 launch on November 19, 2020.
With Spider-Man Remastered, Insomniac Games will also offer a new edition of the title from 2018 with numerous improvements for the launch of the PS5. The game will only be available as part of the Spider-Man: Miles Moreales Ultimate Edition package. A single purchase is currently not planned. The team has now revealed another restriction on the new edition via Twitter. Accordingly, players cannot transfer their saved status from the PS4 version to the PS5 remaster.
So if you've already started or completed Spider-Man on PS4, you'll have to start all over again on the next-gen console. An upgrade for owners of the PS4 version is not planned either. Thanks to backward compatibility, at least the PS4 game should run on the PS5 – albeit without any improvements. Insomniac Games has expanded the new edition with ray tracing, among other things. With the new SSD hard drive, loading times have also been reduced enormously. A performance mode with 60 FPS is also part of Spider-Man Remastered for PS5.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Spider-Man Remastered will be released in Europe on November 19th. As part of the PlayStation Showcase a few days ago, Sony granted another look at the spinoff. You can also read a lot more information about the launch title of the PS5 in our preview. Spider-Man: Miles Morales will also appear in stores for PlayStation 4 on the same day.
