The Corona virus does not stop at the upcoming PAX East. As a precautionary measure, Square Enix has prohibited its development teams from participating in the fair. This also eliminates some of the planned stage shows for Final Fantasy 14.
The developers at Square Enix had actually come up with a great show for PAX East: a stage discussion, autograph sessions and an evening meeting with the fans. But nothing will come of it now, because like those responsible at the official site of Final Fantasy 14 (buy now for € 7.90) announced, the Japanese developers will not be allowed to participate in the fair.
"As is known from the media, COVID-19 (known as the new corona virus) is currently spreading in East Asia. After careful consideration, SQUARE ENIX unfortunately had to decide to prohibit its Japanese-based employees from participating in PAX East. This difficult decision was made to protect the health and safety of our team and fans and to prevent the virus from spreading further. "
For PAX East this means that some of the planned program items have to be changed or even canceled:
- Panel Session: The Artwork of FINAL FANTASY XIV: Will be replaced by a livestream in English and Japanese. (Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 2 a.m.CET)
- Autograph and photo session with the developers: Will be cancelled
- fan meeting: Will be cancelled
All other activities and stands will be represented at the fair as planned. Anyone traveling on the PAX East will be able to compete against Ruby Weapon in the Battle Convention at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center on February 27th and be able to dust off great giveaways (such as the "I BEAT RUBY WEAPON" t-shirt). All originally planned program items can be found in the official announcement,
As always, we are looking forward to your opinion on the topic!
