New adventures for Pike, Spock and Co.
The production of the new Star Trek: Strange New Worlds series will start quite early next year and the first season should then be broadcast sometime in 2022 – assuming, of course, that the corona pandemic allows this schedule. According to producer Alex Kurtzman, the scripts have been in the works for some time, the stories for 10 episodes are already set.
We'll see a Spock in the series who, through his encounter with his sister Michael Burnham in the second season of Star Trek: Discovery, has received "permission" to be human. The love he has experienced from his sister will help shape his future behavior and actions.
Captain Pike has to fight with his inner demons in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds because he knows what his fate looks like. He has to deal with the fact that he will suffer this serious accident in a few years and will be crippled for the rest of his life. Pike is said to be working on actor Anson Mount to make the most of his limited time that he still has outside the wheelchair. The focus is not only on his own well-being, but that of the universe.
Number one, the first officer on board the USS Enterprise, played by Rebecca Romijin, indicated that the series was about surrendering to the unknown together.
