Solo: A Star Wars Story was not a huge box office success, as the film got the wrath of Star Wars fans who were disappointed after Episode 8: The Last Jedi. These fans then later had to admit that the flick is actually really good, which is why it is now much more popular with the community and there is even a petition for a sequel. Director Ron Howard therefore believes that the chances for another "solo" project are not that bad.
Han Solo could return – someday
"That's not supposed to confirm anything and that's not a spoiler or anything, but I think there is interest in these characters. I think there is kind of an interest in this gangster world. But I can assure you that nothing is for the movies or at the moment Disney Plus is being developed. But the great thing is that there has been a lot of encouragement for Solo, and of course that means that Disney might decide to do it after all … "said Ron Howard in an interview.
According to the director, Disney is currently not working on any solo-related project, be it a movie or a series for Disney +. However, there is some interest in the characters in the film, and it has not escaped Disney that the Star Wars community would like to see something new about them. It is therefore conceivable that such a project might be tackled at some point.
Disney is currently working on several Star Wars projects, including a third season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, a mini-series about Obi-Wan Kenobi, and other films.
