There were many dark scenes to be seen in Star Wars: Episode 9 – The Rise of Skywalker. One very special scene, however, was probably too intense that it didn't make it into the finished version. This emerges from the autobiography "My Life as a Wookiee" by the Finnish actor Joonas Suotamo. Since the death of Peter Mayhew, he has embodied the Chewbacca, which is very popular with many fans.

As can be read in the book, a scene was planned in Chewbacca to be brought aboard a star destroyer and tortured by Kylo Ren. In all likelihood, Ren was trying to get valuable Resistance information out of the Wookiee this way. This scene was also shot as planned. According to Suotamo's statements, the Kylo actor Adam Driver had gotten into his role to such an extent that the scene was ultimately too dark to be shown in this form. So the director and producers decided not to include them.

Suotamo also reports in the book that Driver had frightened him on the day of filming, even during breaks, and that they hardly spoke a word to each other – even though they were actually on friendly terms at the time. That should be further proof of how meticulously and intensively Adam Driver prepared himself for his role as the sinister Kylo Ren.
