As part of Gamescom 2020, publisher EA, developer Motive Studios and Lucasfilm have released another trailer for Star Wars Squadrons. The "Official Single Player Preview" gives an insight into what EA says is the "authentic single player story of Star Wars: Squadrons". Star Wars: Squadrons will be released on October 2, 2020 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC via Origin, Steam and the Epic Games Store. For Playstation 4 and PC, the game also has Virtual Reality (VR) with crossplay support.

"Pilots, get ready for action! Today Electronic Arts, Motive Studios and Lucasfilm gave another insight into the authentic single-player story of Star Wars: Squadrons – the captivating game experience with space battles set in the popular Star Wars galaxy. The new trailer was unveiled during Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live Show at gamescom 2020. As part of the show, Star Wars: Squadrons also received the gamescom Award in the "Best Action Game" category.
The single player trailer leads the story of Star Wars: Squadrons (buy now € 38.98 /€ 37.99 ) as well as the changing perspectives the players will take. As two customizable pilots, you take turns pursuing missions on the two opposing sides to either protect the New Republic or restore order to the Galactic Empire. In addition to the new trailer, Motive Studios has released the fourth Star Wars: Squadrons pilots briefing with comments from Star Wars: Squadrons writer Joanna Berry. The blog post gives an overview of the plot of Star Wars: Squadrons and puts it in context to the overarching Star Wars story. There is also background information on the game's two major seasons: the heroic Vanguard season of the New Republic and the terrifying Titan season of the Galactic Empire. "
