Disney can be happy because the series Star Wars: The Mandalorian won several Emmys, including one for "Outstanding Special Visual Effects". And that's where "Baby Yoda" played a role.
The first season of Disney's series Star Wars: The Mandalorian was very well received by the audience, who are now looking forward to Season 2. But Disney also has reason to be happy, because even before the actual Emmy Award event 2020 next weekend, the series already received several of the coveted awards.
An "excellent" series
Some Emmys are given out before the actual award ceremony. Including the Creative Arts Emmys, which distinguishes costume designers, visual effects artists and stylists. The Mandalorian received one of these awards this year in the "Outstanding Special Visual Effects" category. The character of "Baby Yoda" plays a role, because she belongs to the special effects and part of the success of the series is simply due to the cuddly creature. The Emmy was awarded specifically for the second episode.
The Mandalorian has also received awards in the following areas:
- "Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour) for Chapter 1: The Mandalorian"
- "Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) or Animation for Chapter 1: The Mandalorian"
- "Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) or Animation for Chapter 2: The Child"
- "Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (Half-Hour) for Chapter 7: The Reckoning"
The series Watchmen, Succession and Stranger Things, The Crown and The Ranche also received Creative Arts Emmys.
The second season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian starts on October 30th via the streaming service Disney +. Whether the new season will get awards again remains to be seen. At least the first trailer has sparked some speculation among Star Wars fans.
