We know the Star Wars series. The Mandalorian takes place around five years after Star Wars: Episode 6: Return of the Jedi. But what about the epilogue of the Star Wars: Rebels cartoon series?
Danger! Here are spoilers!
In the finale of the Star Wars: Rebels series, we see Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren set out to search for the missing Ezra Bridger in the Unknown Regions. And director Dave Filoni now explains that this scene may take place after the series Star Wars: The Mandalorian.
Filoni said in an interview with Vanity Fair, "I think what people will least understand is that they want to be linear, but as I learned as a kid, nothing really works linearly in Star Wars. You do (episodes). Four, five and six and then one, two and three. So when you watch the Rebels epilogue you don't really know how much time has passed. So it's possible that the story I tell in The Mandalorian actually plays before it. Possibly. I say it is possible. "
So it's not a confirmation that The Mandalorian is set before the Rebels epilogue. It would make sense though. In The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 5, Ahsoka Tano is still looking for information about the whereabouts of Grand Admiral Thrawn, who disappeared with Ezra Bridger. It could be that she received this information and then we see in the epilogue of Rebels how she sets out with the help of Sabine Wren to fly to the place where she suspects Ezra and Thrawn.
We may learn a little more in the remaining episodes of the second season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian.
