Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games have announced a cooperation for a new game in the Star Wars universe. The team at Massive Entertainment, who have worked on titles like The Division 2 in the past, will be responsible for development.

However, there is not much information about the project. The game is currently said to be fairly early in development. Julian Gerighty was confirmed as Creative Director by Ubisoft, who had already performed this task for The Division 2 and The Crew. It will be an open world game with a completely new story. According to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, the new project should be different from all previous adventures from the sci-fi universe. The time at which the title of Massive Entertainment will be set has not been revealed at the current time.

The snowdrop engine, which was also used in The Division 2, is used in the development. Incidentally, the project is the first AAA game since 2012 that is not from EA is produced. Officially, the exclusive deal between Disney and EA runs until 2023. Lucasfilm Games has not yet answered any questions about the deal. It is therefore unclear whether EA had to surrender the license or something else is behind it.

It wasn't until this week that Lucasfilm Games was brought back to life. On Tuesday, those responsible, together with Bethesda and Machine Games (Wolfenstein), announced a game for Indiana Jones. Here too, however, there are only a few details so far.
