Steam: annual review reveals the total playing time of all users
In Steam's current annual review, we get a look at numerous statistics that shaped the past year. Among them is the impressive total playing time of all users. Meanwhile, over 95 million players are active on Steam every month. In addition, those responsible have already presented a list of innovations that users can look forward to this year.
The Steam team released their 2019 annual review this week, revealing some interesting stats on how to use the platform. Accordingly, over 20.7 billion hours were played on Steam last year. According to Valve's comparison, this is almost the total duration of a flight to the Andromeda galaxy at the speed of light. A total of 95 million players are active on Steam every month – also a new record for the platform.
Thanks to the new library, the number of user reviews has increased significantly in recent months. Around 70,000 reviews are now written on Steam every day. Even before the update, this was only 17,000 reviews a day. The Steam Workshop is still very popular. In 2019 alone, over 4.3 million objects were uploaded here. On average, it only takes 15 minutes until a new item is accepted or rejected for the workshop.
Valve also released initial figures for Remote Play Together, which was launched in November 2019. Around 2.3 million players have already used this function to actually play local multiplayer titles together on the Internet. There was also an outlook for 2020. Accordingly, work is to be carried out on the introduction of Steam Trust, SteamVR 2.0 and the Steam Café program, among other things. More details can be found in the Review of the year from Valve.
