Square Enix announces Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin a gritty action RPG set in the Final Fantasy universe. As part of E3 2021, the publisher showed a trailer that gave a first foretaste of the project that is being developed together with Team Ninja – we have included the video below. Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is slated for release in 2022 for PC and consoles. PS5 owners have been given access to an exclusive demo since the show. At least in theory: Although the data can be downloaded, an error message appears when attempting to start. Players report that the data is corrupted and the trial version cannot be started.

Square Enix has already confirmed on Twitter that there are problems with the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin demo. On Sunday evening, the developers announced that they were working on a solution to the problem – and that they would submit an update as soon as they knew more. Further information has not been published since then. As soon as we receive additional details, you will find out as usual in our news area.

The demo is around 11.3 gigabytes in size and should provide first glimpses of the combat system and individual character classes. It will only be available until June 24th, after which the test operation will end. It remains to be seen whether Square Enix will postpone the end of the test phase again in the wake of the current demo problems.
