Nintendo is finally going full throttle again! After the temporary hibernation, the Japanese company seems to have come back to life and has a lot of announcements ready for the fans. It started two weeks ago with the first big Nintendo Direct in ages (all information here) and continued last week with the big Pokémon Presents on the occasion of the 25th Pokémon anniversary (more information here). Now the next DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has just been presented in another live stream, by none other than series creator Masahiro Sakurai, and reveal the release date.

Release of the new DLC

The next additional fighter is Pyra ("the compassionate one" specializing in strength) and its alternative form Mythra ("Die Sture", specializing in speed) from the Japanese role-playing game Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which is available for the Nintendo Switch. The DLC was announced at Nintendo Direct two weeks ago, and the release date has now been announced. The new DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (buy now ) appears on 05. March 2021 (Friday) as chargeable additional content in the eShop of the Switch, so already tomorrow. While playing, you can switch freely between the two forms of the fighter at any time at the push of a button.

The DLC beats with a single purchase with a price of 5.99 euros and includes the new additional fighter as well as a brand new associated stage as well as some pieces of music from Xenoblade Chronicles. The additional content is alternatively also available as part of the so-called Fighter's Pass Vol. 2, which costs 29.99 euros and includes a total of six additional fighters by the end of the year – each including their own stage and pieces of music.

Stage and music

The new stage bears the name Sea of ​​Clouds from Alrest (and is located on the back of Azurda) and, analogous to the new character, arises from the Switch-exclusive role-playing game Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which was released for the hybrid console in December 2017. The stage changes in the course of a fight, in the background more characters from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 can be seen. Also the 16 new pieces of music appropriately come from the RPG series.

Masahiro Sakurai also showed new ones in a 35-minute live stream Mii fighter costumes. New in round 9 are outfits based on characters from Monster Hunter, as well as those from Ghosts'n Goblins. EUR 0.80 per costume is due in the eShop. There were no new amiibo figures to be seen this time.
