The people in charge at Nintendo have in one Message announced that an agreement for a takeover has been reached with Next Level Games. The Canadian developer studio has been one of Nintendo's closest partners for many years. With the deal, the company wants to further promote the cooperation. In addition, Next Level Games has access to internal resources.
There are no financial details about the takeover. Nintendo will acquire 100 percent of the shares. According to the announcement, the costs should only have a small effect on the current income for the current financial year. Most recently, the Next Level Games team was responsible for the development of Luigi's Mansion 3 on Nintendo Switch. The studio became famous for titles such as Mario Strikers Charged Football for Nintendo Wii and Metroid Prime: Federation Force for the 3DS. It is not yet known which project is in development at Next Level Games after the release of Luigi's Mansion 3.
