Probably not even the production team itself expected Netflix 'The Witcher to be such a success. Nevertheless, series boss Laurin Hissrich already said that season 2 would not be rushed. Based on the team's plan to film a total of seven seasons and various hints, one can already draw some rough conclusions as to which adventures Geralt and his friends will experience next. Ideally, that means that from season 2 we can count on the serial version of one of Andrzej Sapkowski's witch novels.

The Witcher: Legacy of the Elves
It starts with "The Legacy of the Elves". The first novel from the Witcher series follows on from the two short story volumes. Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer are roughly in the same position in which they are now in the Netflix series.

After Geralt has finally found Ciri, the sorcerer decides to bring his new foster daughter to Kaer Morhen. The old fort of the witchers is now only a ruin, which houses the last remains of Geralt's order. Above all, Vesemir, Geralt's mentor, in whose role Mark Hamill, among others, is very interested. Together with the other sorcerers and the magician Triss Merigold, Geralt begins to train Ciri as a sorcerer. After the witches and triss notice that Ciri has great magical powers, Geralt decides to travel with her to the Temple of Melitele to find out more. On the way there, the two see the extent of the war between Nilfgaard and the Northern Kingdoms and meet the magician Rience, who wants to get Ciri into his hands. In addition, the reason behind the mission of Nilfgaard officer Cahir is revealed: Nilfgaard's emperor Emhyr var Emreis wants to make Ciri his wife.

The Witcher: A grain of truth
"The Legacy of the Elves" has many advantages for the creators of the Netflix series. The story of the book is dense, but comparatively short. Topics like that

Fighting humans against elves and the war against Nilfgaard already existed in season 1. They don't have to be explained first. In addition, three very likeable characters appear with the witches Vesemir, Eskel and Lambert. Ideally, there is also enough time to go back to the short story volumes that formed the basis of the first season. One story should definitely still be used: "A grain of truth". There Geralt meets Nivellen, a man who was cursed to live in animal form. The character is very popular with readers and Lauren Hissrich also said that "A Grain of Truth" will definitely appear in Season 2. In the series, however, Geralt and Ciri meet at levels.

The Witcher: What will become of Yennefer?
A character who only comes together with Ciri at the very end in "The Legacy of the Elves" is Yennefer von Vengerberg. That would go well with her disappearance in the last episode of season 1. However, it is unlikely that viewers will not see anything from her because there is

enough possibilities to knit a plot for the sorceress. There is, for example, Yennefer's stay in the Temple of Melitele, which she visits independently of Geralt and Ciri to find a remedy for her infertility. The series makers can also expand their encounter with Jaskier. Yennefer saves the bard from the magician Rience, who is actually hunting for Ciri. Finally there is the statement by Royce Pierrson, who plays the magician Istredd in the series, that he is also in season 2. This caused some fans to speculate that the short story "Ein Eissplitter" is being filmed, in which Istredd is arguing with Geralt about Yennefer.

No matter how the Yennefer series treats it and how it disappears, one thing is certain: The tangle of different timelines will no longer exist in season 2. The armor of the Nilfgaard soldiers will also look different. Here, too, the production team implemented a suggestion from the fans. And: The series will delve deeper into the history of the elves and dwarves and into their conflict with humans. Of course, one cannot say anything about the second season of The Witcher. But we have a good feeling about our forecast. You too? Which stories from the witcher universe would you like to see filmed?
