WIDESCREEN presents the current cinema releases in the week from Thursday, February 13th to Wednesday, February 19th. This week, a program can be enjoyed for quieter, but still demanding minds. In contrast, the film version of the video game "Sonic The Hedgehog" is already one of the most action-packed films this week. In addition to the real-life drama "Bombshell – The End of the Silence" about sexual harassment, documentaries and comedies are the main new releases this week. The latter lead us around the whole world, as well as in partly dark and partly magnificent pasts.
Sonic The Hedgehog (Children's film – Can, USA, JPN 2020) / Paramount
After a long wait, a redesign of the Sonic figure and the closure of a studio responsible for it, the "Sonic the Hedgehog" film with Jim Carrey now appears as "Doctor Robotics". Sonic flees from other dimensions to our earth from alien pursuers, where he continues to be persecuted. The German voice was given to the blue hedgehog by Julien Bam.
Bombshell – The End of Silence (Drama – USA, CAN 2019) / Wild Bunch
"Bombshell" is about a group of women who are sexually assaulted by its founder Roger Alies on Fox News. In addition, the dangers of public discourse to which women face themselves when they act against it are revealed. The story of this film made by Jay Roach is based on real events. "Bombshell" will be released in German cinemas on February 13th. A review of this film can be found here.
