Not only the year 2019 is coming to an end with ever larger steps, but also a whole decade. It is therefore time for us to take a closer look at the best games in the most important genres. We have already highlighted the role-playing games, strategy titles and first-person shooters, in this special we take a look at the action adventures and RPGs. These five titles from the past decade are so good that you must have played them! Are you missing a title in the list? Let us know in the comments!
The game's debut was in 2014 and caused quite a stir at the time. This was mainly due to the legendary level of difficulty, which should have brought some players to despair. But the enormous freedom of action, the interesting background story as well as the dark staging have remained positively in the memory – and that despite a somewhat old-fashioned graphic even at that time. There were also some sensible improvements compared to the equally good predecessor, which among other things made the entry easier or simply and simply for a little more comfort – and without disturbing the unique dark soul feeling. There are also some boss fights that die hard fans may have dreamed of many a night. If you can deal with frustration, you cannot avoid Dark Souls 2.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
At this point, we could be debating which episode of the Uncharted series deserves to appear in our top 5. Ultimately, however, the choice fell on Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. It is the last chapter about the well-known adventurer Nathan Drake, which, however, looks much more adult and therefore more profound than his excursions in the three predecessors. The developer studio Naughty Dog continues to rely on the tried-and-tested mechanics, but turns the right screws to make the gaming experience look a bit rounder. Larger areas, more interesting fights and generally more opportunities for action improve the series' formula for success. In addition, there is the usual cinematic staging of the game and an exciting story with endearing characters that will be remembered for a long time. It is therefore not surprising that Hollywood is currently working on a film implementation of Uncharted for the cinemas.

Of course, such a list cannot do without the latest episode of the "God of War" series, which is pleasantly called the same – without a number or other addition in the name. The game was launched last year exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and is thus the youngest representative in the Top 5. This time Kratos takes him to the realm of Nordic mythology, where he takes on giant snakes, among other things. However, the Spartan is no longer just a brawny frenzy, but now also a family man who travels the world with his son Atreus. The latter helps him in the fight, which brings a breath of fresh air to the previously dusty system. In addition to the battles, which are still very imposingly staged, this time the story with its surprising twists as well as the characters know more to please. There are even some clever puzzles and a crafting system, which provides additional variety. Thus, the youngest God of War is also the most coherent game in the series.

The dark and sometimes almost melancholic staged action adventure, like the Uncharted series, comes from the developer studio Naughty Dog and was launched in 2013. The focus is on the two survivors Joel and Ellie, who are traveling through the post-apocalyptic states of the USA. They not only deal with a large number of mutants, but also with a wealth of emotions and the consequences of their actions. Above all, it is the incredibly captivating and deeply told story with its excellently staged characters that make The Last of Us an unforgettable experience. Added to this is the successful mix of survival, horror and Schleich passages, which further intensifies the already gripping atmosphere. It was only a matter of time before Naughty Dog finally announced a successor – which, incidentally, will be released on May 29, 2020 for the PlayStation 4.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
It should have been clear to most of you that a list with this title could not do without a Zelda game. That's exactly what we thought too and chose The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game came out in March 2017 for both the Wii U and the then new Switch and hit like a bomb. There were several reasons for this: The developers this time increasingly rely on an open world formula, in which even some aspects of survival brought into play. You already had certain freedoms in previous Zelda episodes, but they were never as generous as in the Switch adventure. In principle, you can travel to any point in the world from the start. But the real attraction is to stock up with better and better equipment to master the challenges better. It has not completely forgotten its roots and continues to offer challenging boss fights, equipment known from previous games and the generally delightful charm of its predecessors. In addition, Breath of the Wild looks fantastic and has an almost outrageously high replay value. A modern classic!
