Whoever wins the Game of the Year title at the Game Awards is calculated from the votes collected from all specialist publications, including PC Games. In 2020, The Last of Us Part 2 received this honor. But of course the individual publications themselves also award new awards to their favorites every year.

On the official page of the Game Awards you can now see in which annual lists The Last of Us 2 was also represented in first place. And that with an astonishing and highly impressive result: The Last of Us Part 2 (buy now € 44.85 ) could believe it or not 184 awards for the game of the year 2020 (as of: 05.01.2021, 2:04 p.m.), of which a whopping 55 were awarded through reader votes. For comparison: Last year Death Stranding took first place with 92 awards, 33 of which were Readers' Choice Awards. Naughty Dogs action-adventure sequel apparently polarizes the fan base and is even coldly despised by some admirers of the first part, but the bottom line is that most players seem to have agreed that the blockbuster sequel is a triumph. The Last of Us Part 2 also performed extremely well in the PC Games reader voting.

The Rogue-lite-Hack & Slash Hades from Supergiant Games, which only won three reader votes, was far behind in second place, but as a critics darling was still able to garner more votes than the third-placed AAA title Ghost of Tsushima. The samurai adventure was voted Game of the Year by 31 media outlets.

CD Project Red's hyped sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077, on the other hand, is only in 5th place with 17 awards, which is probably not only due to a difference in popularity, but mainly due to the fact that the title is still awarded many awards had not appeared and was therefore not eligible.

We give all readers daily free news, articles, guides, videos and podcasts on their favorite games. So far we have financed this site through advertising and kept it as free of clickbaits or paid items as possible, but since COVID-19 this has become increasingly difficult. Many companies are cutting or cutting their advertising budgets for 2020. Budgets that we unfortunately have to rely on if we want to continue to offer PC games free of charge as usual in the future.

For this reason we turn to you now. As a PC Games supporter, you can support us so that we can continue to offer our content in the usual form for free without introducing a paywall or publishing clickbait news like "And you won't believe what happened next …" . Every contribution, large or small, is valuable.
